Gaëtan Van Exem
Gaetan Van Exem is the Global Vertical Lead for Pharma and Healthcare at Maersk, based in Belgium. With nearly a decade of experience at Maersk, Gaetan has held a variety of commercial roles, consistently working at the frontline with customers to understand and address their evolving supply chain needs. His passion lies in cold chain logistics, with hands-on experience spanning frozen goods, perishables and pharmaceuticals.
In his current role, Gaetan is responsible for shaping and executing Maersk’s global strategy for the pharma and healthcare sector across all transportation modes. This strategic responsibility has enabled him to develop deep expertise in pharmaceutical supply chains, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance, temperature control, and end-to-end visibility. His ambition is to deliver integrated logistics solutions that not only meet the industry's standards but also contribute to better health outcomes.
He’s particularly motivated by the idea that better supply chains can lead to better patient outcomes. For Gaetan, events like this are a chance to share ideas, learn from others, and keep pushing the industry forward together.
Dr. Andrea Zobel

Andrea leads the Cell and Gene Therapy and Direct-to-Patient service lines, with a focus on defining strategy, driving growth and solving operational and process challenges which arise from the complexity of these shipments. With a wealth of expertise and experience gained across academia, pharmaceutical services and clinical trials logistics, Andrea has served in a number of senior leadership roles in research and development, clinical trial supply chain as well as product and project management in contract research organizations and pharma logistics companies before joining World Courier in 2021.
Andrea holds a diploma in Biochemistry from the Freie Universität Berlin and a PhD from the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics. Her scientific career includes 12 years’ research in gene technology, pharmacology and preclinical development, both in academic research and in biotech companies.
Andrea is a passionate author, lecturer and trainer for cell & gene therapy, regulations and clinical trial logistics at universities and training institutes and is also an active member of the ISPE (International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering) and the female manager network of the VBU (Verband der Biotechnologieunternehmen).
Cyril Winkler

Cyril Winkler is a seasoned expert in cold chain and air logistics within the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. Since December 2018, he has served as the Global Air Logistics Technical Product Manager for Pharma & Healthcare at Kuehne + Nagel, where he leads strategic development of air freight solutions tailored to the life sciences industry.
Prior to this, Cyril spent seven years (2011–2018) at ELPRO Global as Head of Product Management and Product Manager for Cold Chain Monitoring Solutions, spearheading innovations in temperature monitoring technologies. Before that, he held the role of Cold Chain Consulting Director at Envirotainer (2006–2011), where he provided expert guidance on thermal packaging and cold chain integrity.
Cyril holds an MBA in Technology Management from the University of St. Gallen, underpinning his combination of business acumen and technical insight.
With deep expertise spanning product management, logistics, and regulated healthcare operations, Cyril is recognized for delivering robust and compliant cold chain solutions that ensure the safety of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals during global transport.
Ger McCabe

With over two decades of experience in senior management roles with a number of global multinationals, Ger is an experienced logistics and supply chain professional with a strong focus on cold chain, pharma logistics and specialist transportation.
After completing a pharmaceutical business operations degree in 2018, in support of his career path, his entrepreneurial mindset led him to join Biostor Ireland in early 2022 as Chief Operations Officer and more recently as a director and shareholder. Biostor are an EU certified tissue and cell establishment, regulated for the importation, storage and transportation of human tissues and cells for human application and a biobank for the storage of clinical trial material, master and working cell banks and are CGT specialists. They deal with cryogenic storage and transportation at a variety of minus temperature ranges on a global scale.
Ger has been very influential as the lead in business development, brand awareness and innovation. He is focused on assisting patients and industry in reducing regulatory and product access challenges and turning them into opportunities to positively impact patients.
Ger is married, living in Dublin with his wife and two teenage daughters. They love to travel and spend as much quality family time together as possible.
Julian de Garcia

Julian de Garcia is a supply chain leader with over a decade of international experience spanning pharmaceuticals, consulting, financial services, and entrepreneurship. He currently serves as Head of Global Supply Chain Excellence at UCB, where he drives transformation initiatives to enhance efficiency, agility, and resilience across the organization’s global operations.
Since joining UCB in 2019, Julian has held several roles in Commercial & Clinical Global Supply Chain, in Planning, Distribution and Excellence. His expertise combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, enabling organizations to navigate complexity and deliver sustainable impact.
Beyond his corporate career, Julian is also the Co-Founder of Smile Kombucha, reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to building innovative, purpose-driven ventures. He previously spent over five years at Resultance as a consultant and manager, advising clients on operational excellence and change management.
Julian holds a master’s degree in economics and management from Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, graduating magna cum laude, with international experience at Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
Ester Van den Bossche

Ester Van den Bossche is a globally recognized authority in healthcare logistics and cold chain packaging, with a proven track record of building resilient and sustainable supply chains. Over more than a decade at UPS, she pioneered and scaled the company’s Healthcare Cold Chain Packaging program, introducing innovative solutions such as the Connected Loop “rent-a-box” model that transformed industry practices.
Today, as Founder and CEO of Value Guard Insights BV, Ester partners with healthcare organizations worldwide to design resilient supply chains that are not only compliant and efficient, but also environmentally responsible. She brings deep expertise in GMP/GDP compliance, risk mitigation, and quality assurance, combined with a strategic ability to translate complex logistics challenges into practical, scalable solutions.
Widely respected for her thought leadership, Ester is passionate about redefining healthcare logistics as a driver of patient safety, sustainability, and long-term value creation. Her mission is to help organizations view the supply chain not just as an operational necessity, but as a powerful lever for innovation and positive impact across the healthcare ecosystem.
Pim de Gast

Pim de Gast is Senior Manager, Transport & Solutions at Getinge, with more than six years in this role and nearly a decade of experience in strategic sourcing and supply-chain operations. Since January 2019, he has overseen transportation procurement for the EMEA region, building and optimizing logistics networks to deliver cost-efficient, responsive distribution solutions.
Pim is particularly strong in strategic network development, partnering across functional teams to align carrier selection, route design, and cost structures with Getinge’s broader business objectives. His approach balances long-term partnerships with flexibility and innovation to handle changing demand, regulatory requirements, and sustainability goals. He is adept at using data-driven analysis to identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost savings, while ensuring service levels and risk management remain high.
Known for his collaborative leadership, Pim works closely with both internal stakeholders and external logistics partners to streamline operations and enhance reliability. His strategic mindset, coupled with hands-on execution, has consistently supported Getinge’s mission to improve patient outcomes by ensuring that critical medical equipment and supplies reach where they are needed, when they are needed.
Andreas Fuchs

Andreas Fuchs is a Salary Partner at Arnecke Sibeth Dabelstein in Frankfurt, specializing in transport, logistics, aviation, and dispute resolution, with a unique focus on pharmaceutical logistics. Since 2014, he has advised international corporations, SMEs, logistics service providers, and shippers across all modes of transport, warehousing, and supply chain management. His practice spans contract drafting, regulatory compliance, litigation, and the negotiation of complex outsourcing and insourcing projects.
With previous in-house experience at a leading logistics group, Andreas combines deep industry knowledge with legal expertise to deliver tailored solutions that address both commercial and regulatory challenges. He is widely recognized for his specialized expertise in pharmaceutical logistics, regularly advising specialized logistics service providers such as Movianto, UNITAX, Med-X-Press, Pharmaserv, LOGOSYS and Krug Healthcare Logistics. His clients also include major pharmaceutical companies, wholesalers, and logistics networks such as Merz Pharma and Eurotranspharma.
Beyond client work, Andreas is a founding member of the BVMW Commission for Logistics & Mobility, a lecturer in pharmaceutical logistics law at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University, and a member of the European GDP Association, the Air Cargo Community Frankfurt Pharma Competence Team, and the German Association for Transport Law. He frequently publishes and speaks at industry conferences and webinars on logistics and transport law.

He joined ASC Associates in January 2016 as a Director and Chief Operating Officer. In the role, he supports clients in all matters of Supply Chain Security and Good Distribution Practice compliance.
Prior to joining ASC Associates, he worked for Mundipharma with responsibility for global supply & logistics, including performing risk evaluation and mitigation activities for pharmaceutical products in the Global Supply Chain.

Monika Derecque-Pois

Monika Derecque-Pois is the Founder of the Healthcare Chain Institute (HCI) and a seasoned C-Suite leader with more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. She is dedicated to uniting the global healthcare supply chain through innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. At HCI, Monika focuses on transforming fragmented lobbying practices by creating a unified platform that connects stakeholders across the entire healthcare chain—from production to patient care.
Her career spans leadership, advocacy, and association management, with a proven track record of shaping European and global healthcare policy. She has founded and led two successful European affairs consultancies—Euro Keys and Cetan—and held senior leadership positions at the European Medicines Verification Organisation (EMVO) and the European Healthcare Distribution Association (GIRP), where she served for more than two decades.
With expertise in EU affairs, healthcare supply chain management, ESG, digital transformation, and corporate governance, Monika is recognized as a strategic advisor, coalition builder, and advocate. Drawing on her extensive network of high-level decision-makers, she has influenced legislation on pharmaceutical distribution, public health, and sustainability.

Kelsey Wakley
Kelsey Wakley is Director of Operations – Cell & Gene Therapies North America at QuickSTAT Global Life Science Logistics, a Kuehne+Nagel company. With more than a decade of experience in healthcare and life science logistics, she has built her career around enabling the safe, time-critical transport of advanced therapies.
Kelsey joined QuickSTAT in 2014 and has since advanced through roles in customer relations, operations leadership, and global cell and gene therapy (CGT) management. She previously led CGT operations in London before relocating to Raleigh, North Carolina, to oversee the North American region. In her current role, she drives operational excellence, compliance, and innovation to support the delivery of life-saving therapies to patients.
Passionate about connecting patients with the treatments they need, Kelsey is recognized for her ability to build strong partnerships, lead high-performing teams, and navigate the complex regulatory and logistical demands of CGT supply chains. She holds a BSc in Criminology and Sociology from Buck’s New University and is actively engaged in the life sciences community, including Women In Bio.

Patrik Senn is currently serving as the Head of Product Management at ELPRO Global, a position he has held since September 2023. With nearly three years of experience at the company, Patrik is responsible to drive product strategy and innovation. Prior to his current role, he spent almost two years as a Product Manager, focusing on various aspects of product development and market analysis.
During his tenure as Product Manager, Patrik played a crucial role in bridging the gap between global sales and development teams. His responsibilities included analyzing sales data, profit margins, and market share trends to inform strategic decisions. Patrik also coordinated product launches and discontinuations, implemented sales promotion initiatives, and developed brand-specific approval documents. His expertise in these areas has contributed significantly to ELPRO Global's product success and market positioning. Patrik is based in Switzerland.
